Coming Home to Islamabad: An Arrival Guide for Overseas Pakistanis
Practical tips for overseas Pakistani families landing at Islamabad International — luggage, vehicle size, gate entry in Bahria and DHA, and getting around during the visit.

Every summer and every Eid, thousands of families land at Islamabad International after a long flight, with suitcases and gifts, and with relatives waiting at home in Bahria Town, DHA or Rawalpindi. A little planning makes the first hour easy.
Book a vehicle that fits the luggage
The most common mistake is a car that is too small. As a guide:
- Two adults, two large cases — a sedan.
- Family of four or five with full luggage — a Fortuner, Prado or Hiace.
- Larger family or relatives coming to meet you — a Hiace or Coaster.
Send your flight number and the number of bags, and we choose the vehicle with you.
Flight tracking and meeting
We track the flight, so an early or delayed landing does not matter. The driver meets you outside arrivals; you can message on WhatsApp once you have collected your bags.
Gated communities
Bahria Town, DHA and the Askari schemes check vehicles at the gate. Send your full address — phase, street and house number — when you book, so the driver can clear the gate quickly at any hour. See our Bahria Town and DHA pages for details.
During the visit
- A car and driver for the whole stay is often simpler than separate bookings. Ask for a monthly or weekly quote.
- Family trips — Murree and Nathia Gali are day trips; Naran and Swat need two or three days.
- Weddings — book wedding cars and guest vans early in peak season.
The flight home
International check-in at Islamabad needs time. Plan to leave home three to four hours before departure, more on peak travel days.
