Murree is the trip almost every family in the twin cities makes, and the drive itself is the easy part. The Islamabad–Murree Expressway climbs from about 500 m to over 2,000 m on a dual carriageway, so the first hour is relaxed. The last few kilometres into Mall Road are where days go wrong: on summer weekends, Eid holidays and snow days the queue into town can take longer than the whole Expressway.
Why a driver makes sense on this route
Parking near Mall Road is the problem, not the road. A local driver drops you at GPO Chowk or Kashmir Point, waits in the overflow areas, and collects you when you call. You also avoid driving the steep, crowded descent in the evening yourself.
Day return or a night in the hills
A day return works well if you leave the twin cities by 8 am. If you want an unhurried evening, stay in Bhurban or continue to Nathia Gali — quieter, cooler and a better night's sleep than Murree town in season. Overnight trips include the driver's lodging, agreed in your quote.
Which car
Any of our sedans manages the Expressway in summer. From December to February, and on any day snow is forecast, book an SUV — higher ground clearance and better traction on the final climb. Families of six or more should take a 7-seater or a Hiace.
Winter warning
The road into Murree can close at short notice in heavy snow, and authorities limit the number of vehicles on peak days. If the forecast is bad we will tell you, and we will suggest another date rather than take you into a jam. Read our Murree road trip guide before a winter trip.
